The red headed step child. The non NW hardwood hailing from the Appalachians. A bane to many and loved by many outside the United States. This is an incredible hardwood. An excellent replacement for teak and white oak. In fact, when the characteristics of black locust are matched up against white oak, the black locust comes out on top. Makes beautiful exterior furniture, flooring, decks. Commonly used on the East Coast for boat frames, keels, decks, Samson posts, etc. Anywhere you would use teak or white oak, you can use locust. It's not just for fence posts anymore.
